Takakkaw Falls
Takakkaw Falls located in Yoho National Park, is Canada's second-highest waterfall, leaving every visitor in awe of its magic. in fact, the word "Yoho" is a Cree expression of amazement or awe. Generally considered a "moderately" challenging route, it takes an average of 20 minutes to hike to. Nothing captures the awe and wonder of Yoho National Park like the tremendous thunder of Takakkaw Falls. Plunging from above at a height of 833 ft freefall. If you’re lucky, you may see a rainbow or two at its base. It’s no wonder that the waterfall is based on the Cree word for “wonderful.”
The Yoho is well known for Burgess Shale fossils so be on the lookout as you are making your way to Takakkaw Falls.
The falls are the result of meltwater from the Daly Glacier, part of the 15-square-mile Waputik Icefield.
