Signal Hill National Historic Site Self-Guided Audio Tour

Explore Signal Hill National Historic Site on a self-guided audio tour that plays through your smartphone.

Across 14 GPS-triggered stops, discover 330 years of military history, Marconi’s 1901 transatlantic wireless breakthrough, Cabot Tower, Queen’s Battery, the Noon Day Gun, coastal defences and local legends. The route points you toward sweeping views of St. John’s Harbour, the Narrows and the Atlantic.

Audio plays automatically near each point of interest, while the live map shows your location and route. Download the tour over Wi-Fi before you begin, then explore without using mobile data.

Allow one to two hours, or take longer. Start at the Signal Hill Visitor Centre or another convenient point, divide the route into sections, and pause for views whenever you like. Expect steep paths, uneven ground, stone stairs and strong winds in places.

There is no group, fixed departure time or in-person guide. Discover Signal Hill’s battles, breakthroughs and coastline at your own pace.
