The River of Golden Dreams is a flat-water 5K+ waterway that winds from Alta Lake to Green Lake. Choose a canoe or single kayak from our fleet and float through Whistler's wetlands, gently steering around bends.
Our self-guided river trip takes approximately 2.5 hours, starting at Alta Lake and finishing at Meadow Park Sports Centre, just before Green Lake. A complimentary shuttle returns you to Lakeside Park afterwards.
The river is glacier-fed, and water levels change throughout the season. In spring and early summer, higher water levels create a faster-flowing current. By late summer, lower water levels and beaver activity mean a slower current, and you'll need to pull your boat over a few obstacles, including beaver dams.
We are now in a low water period. One section of the river (Tapley's) becomes too shallow to paddle. All guests complete a mandatory 8–10 minute portage using our wheeled dollies along a mostly paved trail with a short gravel section before continuing their trip. This is an active adventure that requires getting out of the boat several times.
Please note, our boats have a maximum weight capacity of 250 lbs per passenger.
