Marble Canyon
Marble Canyon in Kootenay National Park, British Columbia, is a stunning natural formation where Tokumm Creek has carved a narrow, deep gorge into the limestone rock. Located just off Highway 93, the canyon features a short and easy 1.4 km round-trip trail that crosses several footbridges, offering dramatic views of the turquoise creek far below. The trail is family-friendly and includes interpretive signs that highlight the area’s geology, history, and recovery from a major forest fire in 2003. At the trail’s end, a striking waterfall disappears into a hidden hole in the canyon floor. Open year-round, Marble Canyon is equally beautiful in summer’s vibrant greens and winter’s icy stillness, making it a perfect stop for hikers, photographers, and nature lovers alike.
