Sunwapta Falls and Canyon
Sunwapta Falls, nestled in Jasper National Park along the Icefields Parkway, consists of upper and lower falls created by the Sunwapta River, which originates from the Athabasca Glacier. The upper falls are particularly impressive, with a dramatic 18-meter drop into a deep, rocky canyon. The area is surrounded by dense pine forests and rugged mountain scenery, offering short, scenic trails to explore the falls and their serene lower section. It’s a must-visit spot for nature lovers and photographers, especially during the spring and summer when glacier melt enhances the water flow.
