The African Sculpture Viewing Experience comprises three main attractions. First, the sculpture trail contains rare gemstone sculptures in materials such as rose quartz and red jasper as well as sculptures in traditional stones. This easy, outdoor walking trail is also accessible via electric wheelchair. Visitors may enjoy a picnic or their favourite beverage at the tables set up amidst the artwork. The second attraction is a 200 year-old limestone stable attached to our colonial-era farmhouse. The impeccably-preserved structure has been converted into a gallery to host a large collection of contemporary African and Canadian art, including some of the first Simukai gemstone sculptures, as well as a growing body of two dimensional work. The third attraction is a garden exhibition of the visiting artist. The 2023 visiting artist is Stanley Mutanga, who will be in residence to give demonstrations until mid September.
