St. John's

Arrive in St. John’s Newfoundland where you’ll be greeted by a McCarthy’s Party host who will provide you with a quick drive to your downtown hotel and give you a lay of the land. Once settled you can enjoy a walk through the historic district of Jelly Bean Houses, head for the pubs on George Street or hike Signal Hill’s North Head Trail.

Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site

The most Easterly Point in North America, this spit of land and famous lighthouses are well known the world over for welcoming travelers from across the seas.

Petty Harbour

This quaint fishing village provides visitors with a taste of what small-town Newfoundland is like, outside the hustle-bustle of St. John's. In season keep your eyes peeled for fish coming in on the boats!

Jellybean Row Houses

These iconic houses stand out and help make St. John's the vibrant and colorful town that it is.

Signal Hill

We will explore the iconic Signal Hill, with its commanding view of St. John's, the iconic Cabot Tower, and the impressive gun emplacements and history.

Quidi Vidi

This charming village is a perfect last stop on the tour- a perfect representation of the old economy and the new. Fishermen still take their small boats out from the harbour in the "gut," while in the old fish plant, some of the most interesting beer in Newfoundland is brewed.

Witless Bay ecological reserve

This afternoon we will take a boat trip to the renowned Witless Bay Ecological Preserve. This natural wonder supports millions of nesting Atlantic Puffins, Murres and Kittiwakes in the spring and summer. Keep a sharp eye out for whales which frequent this bay in great numbers during the summer months.

Bay Bulls

Experience the natural beauty of Bay Bulls, Newfoundland, a picturesque fishing village known for its scenic harbor, captivating boat tours, and proximity to the breathtaking Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, home to puffins and other seabirds- we will be able to take in the history and scenery of the same place that we explored from the sea the day before.

Colony of Avalon

Renews

After a delicious lunch in Ferryland we will continue "Up" the southern shore to Renews, where a local storyteller will welcome us to his hometown and regale us with tales from his time there. He will also invite us in for a proper "Mug Up."

Stroll along the Holyrood Boardwalk, a scenic path that winds through lush landscapes and along the serene coastline, offering stunning views of the bay, nearby hills, and abundant wildlife.

Conception Harbour
